It’s that time of year to be thinking about getting your yard prepped and ready for winter. We’ve got a list of end-of-season yard chores to put on your to-do list before that first snow falls. Read on for more information:
-Detach your garden hose: Leaving your garden hose attached can cause it to hold water. When the weather freezes, the water in the hose can cause it to expand, which in turn causes your outside faucet, valves, and pipes to freeze and break.
-Clean your garden beds
-Rake and mulch leaves
-Clear any debris
-Clean your gutters
-Mow your lawn
-Power wash your home and deck
-Clean your windows
-Put away your garden decor and patio furniture
-Trim branches that may break under the weight of snow
-Clean your garden tools
-Drain the gas from your lawnmower and other summer tools
-Get your snowblower ready, stock up on ice melt, and make sure snow shovels are handy
-Remove any window air conditioners
-Clean and cover your grill
-Replace furnace filters
-Check or replace batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, flashlights, and any other battery-operated safety devices
This is not an exhaustive list, but is meant to give you an idea of some of the things you’ll need to do before winter. If you need assistance with these or any other tasks, give Hunter Handyman Services a call at (815) 780-7884 for more information and a free estimate.
