A home's living room and kitchen

March is here, and that means spring is just around the corner! You may be looking to give your home a little bit of a refresh without spending a lot of money, and there are lots of ways to do that. Incorporating some of this spring’s interior design trends in your decor or accent pieces will give your home a fresh, modern feel without having to commit to a whole remodel. On the other hand, this season has some great ideas if you’re looking for a bigger project.

Here’s our guide to a few of this season’s trends:

-Biophilic design: This is a fancy way of suggesting that you bring nature inside to help you feel connected to the outdoors. The simplest way to do this would be to add some houseplants, but you can also incorporate elements of nature through wooden, metal, and other natural accents to bring the outdoors in. This trend focuses a lot on lighting, so statement lamps or light fixtures can help change the feel of a room. Earthy neutral colors and sustainable materials are also popular elements of this trend that you might want to consider.

-Neutrals with a pop of color: Not a fan of going all in on a color? Bright colors also make a big statement in small doses. If your room is already pretty neutral, consider adding little pops of color in your decor, like accent pillows, frames, lamps, or wall art.

-Retro design: This trend was getting hot in the winter (no pun intended) and it looks like it isn’t going anywhere! Whether you choose to draw inspiration from retro colors, styles, trends and grab some updated versions of classic pieces or go thrifting for vintage finds, you can’t go wrong.

-Hidden spaces and storage: Yes, you read that right! We’re always looking for better storage solutions, and what could top storage that an outsider wouldn’t even know was there? There’s been an uptick in searches for hidden storage, and the sky's the limit if you’re searching for clever storage solutions for your home, especially if you have some odd areas or unusable spaces. Why not turn them into stylish storage solutions?

-Outdoor rooms: Have a patio space that’s not quite functional or that just needs a little updating? This season, homeowners are looking to make their outdoor spaces cozier by having them reflect the indoors. This blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor, and creates a seamless flow between the two spaces. Thanks to stylish indoor/outdoor options in fabric and other materials, you’ve got great options if you’re looking to spiff up your patio space.

-Bright, bold patterns: It’s time to set aside those neutrals and go big! Inside or outside, bright, bold patterns are cheerful and can be used in lots of different ways, depending on your comfort level. Use them in rugs, decor, or accent pillows if you’re not quite ready to take the plunge, or get your new sofa or put up some wallpaper in a bold pattern to liven up the space.
